Vick Chugani discusses preferred diamond cuts for solitaire rings

The Big Decision:
Over the course of my 16 years working in the family business, we have helped many clients purchase diamond solitaires to celebrate many different milestones in their lives but most specifically anniversaries and engagements. One of the questions a lot of our clients ask us which is the best shape and my response has always been there is no such thing as the best shape but more about finding a diamond that speaks to you. In this article, I will speak about the shapes we sell the most with a brief description of the main characteristics of each one to provide you insight into your next diamond purchase.

Owner's Collection

Allow me to introduce myself, Tesh Chugani, G.I.A Certified Graduate and class of 2003 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For those of you who do not know who I am; I am one of the Owner’s sons and reside and manage our Aruba Family Store. I have also taken a strong preference to our Jewelry collections and lead our creativity by design team.

I wanted to create a focused collection that was crafted with the highest quality gold and diamonds and for each item to have a special meaning and reason. It is with great excitement that I launch the first item in what I termed the "Owner's Collection". Most of you treat us like family and vice versa and we are part of a large community of mutual trust and respect. I hope these unique pieces continue to inspire and share the good energy we have in store and when you visit our Caribbean Islands.

KFJ Color of the Year is …….. PURPLE!

I get the question often, “Which colored diamond, or gemstone is IN right now?” Typically my answer is always generic and something along the lines of “Yellow is trending and has good investment value and Blue is always popular since it is tropical toned” However, since the start of 2020 I have seen an increase in popularity in anything and everything PURPLE.

Why Jewelry is such an important purchase?

I started working in our family jewelry store after graduating from Providence College in 1999. Being a people person, I could not have dreamt of a better job out of college. I got to talk to people for a living, learn valuable life lessons, and make meaningful life relationships (and hopefully they bought a piece of jewelry from me!) I always felt jewelry was an important purchase as it marked a special occasion and life moment such as Anniversary, Birthday, Christmas (termed the ABC gift).

It was not until the birth of my daughter in 2010 that my perspective of why jewelry is such an important purchase changed. Patek Phillipe’s tag line is “You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation” and I never understood that until I saw my mom going through her jewelry and saying this is for my granddaughter. It then hit me that everything my Dad had bought for her over the years, 50th birthday, 25th anniversary was for her to pass on to the next generation someday. These pieces were their story and their continued legacy.

The Timeless Beauty of the Earring

Dangle, Hoop, Stud: Whatever your preference is, it works!

A few days ago, I was asked a question that truly had me speechless. For those of you who know me well, you know that is no easy task (well to my defense it was no more than 10 seconds). This question was posed to me on a Designer conference call that I have attended weekly during our COVID break from KFJ – What is your favorite class of jewelry and why? Not as easy as one would think.
